In Memory of Ewa Miles-Dixon

It is with profound sadness that we learned of the passing of Ewa Miles-Dixon, a long-standing and deeply respected member of the Polish Canadian Women’s Federation and Branch No. 3 in Edmonton.

Ewa Miles-Dixon was an individual of remarkable professional and community achievement. After immigrating to Canada in 1979, she began her scientific career with the Alberta Research Council while simultaneously dedicating herself to the Polish Canadian community. She served for many years with the Canadian Polish Congress, and from 1991 onward became an active member of the Polish Canadian Women’s Federation, generously devoting her time and energy to organizing community events, preserving Polish heritage, and advancing the mission of our Federation.

She was an exceptional organizer, a devoted volunteer, and someone who could always be counted upon. Representing Branch No. 3, she actively participated in numerous community and cultural organizations, cared for the Federation House, and supported initiatives that benefited the entire Polish Canadian community. Her knowledge, experience, and kindness will forever remain an important part of the history of the Polish Canadian Women’s Federation.

In December 2013, Ewa Miles-Dixon joined the Jadwiga Dobrucka Fund Committee. Over the years, she served the Fund with unwavering dedication, helping fulfill its mission of supporting young members of the Polish Canadian community.

In recognition of her many years of outstanding volunteer service and her tireless dedication to the Polish Canadian community, she received numerous distinguished honours, including the Gold Cross of Merit of the Republic of Poland, the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, and the King Charles III Coronation Medal. These prestigious awards stand as a testament to her exceptional commitment, leadership, and lasting contribution to the Polish community in Canada.

On behalf of the National Board of the Polish Canadian Women’s Federation, I extend our deepest condolences to Ewa’s family, loved ones, and the members of Branch No. 3. We join you in sorrow and in prayer, giving thanks for the life and legacy of a woman who devoted decades of faithful service to our Federation and to the Polish Canadian community.
