About the Fund
The Jadwiga Dobrucka Youth Fund was established by the Polish Canadian Women’s Federation in March 1963 in memory of Jadwiga Dobrucka, one of the founders of the Federation.
The Fund reflects her deep commitment to the education of Polish youth and continues her legacy by supporting educational and developmental opportunities for young people of Polish heritage across Canada.
Today, the Fund continues to operate as a national initiative of the Polish Canadian Women’s Federation.

A Legacy That Began with a Simple Act of Generosity
The story of the Fund began following the death of Jadwiga Dobrucka in 1963.
Throughout her life, Dobrucka had expressed the wish that after her death, instead of flowers and wreaths, money be directed toward charitable purposes. Education of Polish youth was especially close to her heart.
At her funeral, friends honoured that wish by making donations instead of purchasing flowers. Their generosity became the beginning of a permanent youth fund bearing her name.
The National Board of the Polish Canadian Women’s Federation subsequently established a Youth Fund Committee, and the Federation’s Second General Convention designated an initial $500 as protected capital, with the income generated from the fund to be used for educational and training opportunities for young people.
Her wish became a legacy.
What began with donations made in lieu of flowers grew into a national Federation initiative that has supported Polish Canadian youth for generations.

✓ Meet the eligibility requirements established by the Fund
✓ Are seeking support for eligible educational, developmental, cultural, or youth initiatives
